The Warriors
The Warriors

The Coney Island Dominators were a Hispanic/African-American gang that fought their way back to their turf following the murder of Ismael Rivera - leader of the Delancey Thrones - and the disappearance of their leader, Papa Arnold.

They wear paisley polo shirts, monkey jackets, tight black chino pants, ankle boots and high-crowned narrow-brimmed straw hats with Mercedes-Benz hood emblems attached.

In The Film[]

For the film, The Dominators were re-written as the titular and iconic Warriors, who are blamed for the murder of Cyrus, leader of the Gramercy Riffs. A significant difference between the book and film is that the Warriors still had black members, Caucasian members were added to this adaptation instead of Latinos (because every Walter Hill-written film except for Undisputed has major roles mostly for white actors), and only the youngest member is kept Latino which is the closet surviving counterpart to the Dominators.

As well as the entire gang being re-written as a whole, the individual members were also changed:

  • Papa Arnold, the leader, was re-written as Cleon.
  • Hector, the second-in-command, was re-written as Swan.
  • Dewey, the mascot, was likely re-written as Cochise, as Cochise's attire stands out the most.
  • Hinton was the tagger, whilst Junior was the youngest, so they were re-written as the sole Latino of the gang Rembrandt.
  • Bimbo, the bearer, was re-written as Snow, but Vermin from the film was also the bearer of The Warriors.
  • Lunkface was the strongest member, and wore a hat, so he was re-written as Ajax (the strongest) and Cowboy (the member with a hat).
  • Fox is the only Warrior from the film not to have taken inspiration from a Dominator in the book.
